Allon Therapeutics wins 2009 best small cap IR award

VANCOUVER — February 6, 2009 - Allon Therapeutics Inc. (TSX: NPC) announced today that its investor relations program has been ranked by IR Magazine’s survey of Canadian investors and analysts as the Best Overall Investor Relations Program for small-cap Canadian companies.

Allon’s award was accepted by Aaron Keay, Allon’s director of investor relations, at an awards banquet Thursday night at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Keay joined Allon in 2005 and has led the investor relations program since then. He has a bachelor’s degree in human kinetics and commerce from the University of British Columbia.

Gordon McCauley, President and CEO of Allon, says the IR Magazine award is a validation of the Company’s commitment to accurate and effective communication with shareholders as well as Keay’s leadership of the program.

“We are very proud of the work that our team has done toward developing the first drugs to modify diseases like Alzheimer’s and frontotemporal dementia. It is also important to tell our story effectively. This award, based on the feedback from investors and analysts, is a big compliment to those efforts and Aaron’s leadership of the program” said McCauley.

IR Magazine’s survey was conducted by London, England-based Mary Maude Research using samples provided by Thomson Reuters and Equicom and additional data from TSX Group. The complete results of the survey will be published in IR magazine’s Investor Perception Study, Canada 2009.

The awards banquet was hosted in association with The Globe and Mail and co-sponsored by Barnes McInerney, Bell, Broadridge, Business Wire, CCR Solutions, CIBC Mellon, the Canadian Investor Relations Institute, CNSX Canadian National Stock Exchange, CNW Group, Computershare Georgeson, Laurel Hill Advisory Group, Marketwire, NASDAQ OMX, NYSE Euronext, otcQX, and Toronto Stock Exchange.
